CLASSICAL SOUTH INDIA
Day 1 CHENNAI
Arrival at Chennai and transfer to hotel. In afternoon
city tour of Chennai visiting Fort St. George. Anna Smaadhi and
Museum. Overnight stay.
Day 2 CHENNAI - MAHABALIPURAM - KANCHIPURAM - CHENNAI
In the Morning full day excursion to Mahabalipuram,an old port dating
back to 8th to 10th century having trade with Rome in the west and
with South East Asia. Then drive to Kanchipuram one of the seven
sacred cities of India. Return to Chennai. Overnight stay.
Day 3 CHENNAI - TRICHY - TANJORE - TRICHY
Early morning transfer to airport to catch flight for Trichy. Arrival
at Trichy and drive to Tanjore to visit Maharaja Palace, famous
for its bronze and a beautiful Chola Temple at Brihadeshwara. Return
to Trichy and check in at hotel. In the afternoon visit temple town
of Srirangam Island. Overnight stay.
Day 4 TRICHY - MADURAI
Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Madurai which takes about 3-4
hrs. Check in at the hotel. In afternnon visit to famous Meenakshi
Temple, a superb example of Dravidan School of Architecture and
Trimalai Nayak Palace. Overnight stay.
Day 5 MADURAI - KOVALAM BEACH
Morning departure for Kovalam beach. Enroute visit Padamanabhapuram
Palace which has beautiful mural paintings and elaborate wood work.
Arrive Kovalam Beach and check in at the resort. Overnight stay.
Day 6 KOVALAM BEACH
Day free to relax on the beach. Overnight stay.
Day 7 KOVALAM BEACH - TRIVANDRUM - KOVALAM BEACH
In the morning city tour of Trivandrum visiting Padmanabhapuram
Temple at art gallery. Return to Kovalam Beach Resort. Rest of the
day free. Overnight stay.
Day 8 KOVALAM BEACH - TRIVANDRUM - COCHIN
Transfer to Trivandrum airport to catch flight for cochin. Arrival
at Cochin and transfer to hotel. In the evening sunset cruise on
back water of cochin. Overnight stay.
Day 9 COCHIN
In the morning city tour of Cochin. Afternoon at leisure. In the
evening witness one of the classical dances of South India known
as Kathakali. Overnight stay.
Day 10 COCHIN - BANGLORE
Transfer to Airport to catch flight for Banglore. Arrival at Banglore
and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day free. Overnight stay.
Day 11 BANGLORE - MYSORE
Departure from Banglore to Mysore via Srirangapuram. Arrive Mysore
and check in at hotel. In the afternoon city tour of Mysore visiting
City Palace,Beautiful Vrindavan Gardens and Chamundi Temple. Overnight
stay.
Day 12 MYSORE - BELUR - HELEBID - HASSAN
Learn Mysore and drive to Hassan. Arrive Hassan and check in at
the hotel. In the afternoon sight seeing tour of Chennakeshawa Temple
at Belur dating back to 13th century during Hoysala Dynasty and
Hosaleswar Temple at Helebid. Overnight stay.
Day 13 HASSAN - BANGLORE - MUMBAI
Leave Hassan and drive to Banglore .Enroute visit Sravenbelgola,
a one thousand years old colxossus and then continue drive to Banglore.
Arrive Banglore and transfer to airport to catch flight for Bombay.
Arrival at Bombay and transfer to hotel. Overnight stay.
Day 14 MUMBAI (BOMBAY)
In the morning city tour of Bombay visiting the Gateway of India,
Hanging Gardens and Prince of Wales Museum. Afternoon free for shopping
or other independent activities. Evening transfer to airport to
catch flight for onward destination.
