ACCOMMADATION
The diversity of accommodation in India ranges from deluxe hotels
comparable to the world's most luxurious, to budget hostelries affordable
by the most modest tourist. Apart from these hotels, there are resorts
India:
Deluxe
hotels- Facilities include central air conditioning, health
clubs, a choice of dining, discotheque, mini conference rooms etc.
Budget Hotels- Classified according to the facilities they
offer, these hotels range from three star down to one star. An excellent
choice in the budget range is state government run hotels, which
normally are conveniently located and have uniform standards of
comfort.
Beach Resort hotels- These are budgetary luxury hotels,
having prime locations, the décor enchanting the natural settings,
and cuisine based on local seafood specialties.
Hill resort hotels- Pine paneled and centrally heated deluxe
resorts are usually open throughout the year in contrast to budget
hotels which are ideal for the summer.
Palace hotels- The most interesting feature of these hotel
is they give royal touch. The majority of these fall within the
states of Rajasthan and Gujrat, Mysore in Karnataka. Former rulers
have turned their palaces into carefully refurnished hotels which
offer modern luxuries in royal settings. Some palace hotels are
run by the owning family, others by international hotel chain.
House Boats- House boats are akin to floating two or three
bed roomed hotels, wood paneled and upholstered with chintz. All
deluxe houseboats have international links with travel agencies
who can make advance bookings.
Youth hostels- The country offers inexpensive lodgings which
can be booked in advance. Every tourist destination in India has
dormitory accommodation for the traveler on a limited budget.
